Springtime of the Soul, A Season of Spiritual Renewal and Growth
By Carole Hamm

Shall we blog?

It's officially spring.  I'm possibly regaining some spring in my step, at what I hope is the end of a annoying dragging on kind of stupid winter illness.  I didn't work a proper week of work but thankfully (relatively speaking) I am finishing up strong.  Although not quite strong enough to partake in my intended plans for the weekend.

I'm a little disappointed at how my weekend plans have changed.  Originally I was set to go to a "Design for Life" weekend, which is actually being hosted at my own corps.  These weekends (as far as I understand them -- I've never been before, and that won't be changing this weekend) are for Salvationists in the Canada & Bermuda territory who are interested in answering the questions "Where have I been? Where am I now? Where am I going?".  There is an emphasis on considering Salvation Army officership, but it is not solely a candidates kind of weekend.

I was looking forward to the chance of connecting with some friends on a different kind of level, as well as doing some exploration.  But the truth is, as I reflect now, that I have been on the journey with these questions for the last several years.  And most recently, as some things have come into view a little more clearly, these questions are intended to be mine own to answer and without the influence of what others think.  I already know what other people think... how they've been waiting for me to see that I'm meant to be an officer, or if they weren't waiting for that how they think I would make a good officer now that they think about it.  Seems that people want me to come be wherever they are... kind of a nice feeling, in a sense, but not definitive in itself as to where I ought to be and when.

And so I will consider these questions right now... Yes, I get to see the materials the weekend is based on, but this seems much more personal and important at the moment.

Where have I been?  Well since I am a super duper analytical person in many respects, I am often looking back and examining the past, always seeing what God has done and how He's been faithful - sometimes in spite of my own faithfulness to Him.  Also learning things about myself and my situations.  Sometimes, honestly, living a little too much in the past, but I think I am working on that.

What am I now?  I am where I am... and in the middle of what God wants me to be in the middle of.  I don't always want to be there... I am working, testing software, and am getting some serious reality checks about where the world is at today.  And more so than I ever got in school or university.  Also getting opportunities to witness, and realising that I have absolutely no clue what I'm doing or how to do it.  So I have to be responsible enough to continue to pump myself with absolute Truth and live in it and learn to speak it as well.

Where am I going?  Not "official", but here's the plan -- which I believe comes 100% from God.  Training College - Winnipeg, Manitoba (Canada) in 2010.  So, that's not so far off anymore.  And that's also not something that happens all on its own, in that "official" sense.  So somewhere in here the official territorial ball has to get rolling... but yah, we'll get there.

Pretty good so far?  I dunno... a lot of typing I suppose. :P

Welcome back to Xanga, Donna.

Eerily quiet

Back to work on Monday.  Vacation all over.  I've been pretty quiet lately on here... on Facebook... on my purchased (but unused) website.  And since before going away as well.  It just seems that I got nothin'.  Grrr.

A visit to my house... for Jessica

You would see: chaos in any location that I "live".  Really, I'm not a messy person.... I'm just disorganised.  It drives me nuts, but I cope.

I’d probably feed you:  some egg concoction.  I work wonders with eggs.

And offer you this to drink:  OJ, milk, water, ginger ale, maybe some other pop - but not likely to be caffeinated.

I’d undoubtedly ask if you’d read:  Brengle or GK Chesterton.

I'd want to play this music for you:  either downhere or Marked By Love.  Probably both.  Or we'd just leave my iPod playing all the random stuff on there.

I’d want to tell you the latest about:  my present journeys.

I'd probably suggest a game of:  Wii Sports!!!  Head to head tennis or boxing, preferably. :)

I might show off:  my laptop.  I tend to do that.  It's name is Mortimer.

I might get on the computer and show you: the nifty things it can do.  Or just let you check your email, Facebook, Xanga, MyChurch, etc. while you're here.

If it was a long enough visit, we might watch:  WKRP in Cincinnati episodes, assuming I still have my sister's Christmas present. ;)

What would a visit to your house be like?  involving much food and much laughter

Who am I tagging?  nobody, but anybody is welcome to do this :)
